The last few layouts for Calvinball

 Wow...it has been a whirlwind month. I am very surprised how many layouts I got done considering I had my son's wedding. Whew...I am tired! So just as I have done with the past layouts, I have been continuing to use up really old stash. Combining using old stash, a Victoria Marie Crop, Calvinball, with a scattering of 30 Days of Sketches with Christy's Beautiful Life, I have managed to get done 8 double page spreads and 18 single page layouts for a total of 34 pages! Here are the last 3 layouts I managed to complete before the end of Calvinball. This first one is pictures of a sloth at the farm/wildlife preserve where my daughter works. 

This one is of me with my new granddaughters at my son's wedding this past weekend. I wanted to get a picture of us together while everyone was dressed up. I did use one of the sketches for this layout.

And this is the last layout completed for Calvinball. This is some pictures of when me, my mom, and my sister took a hot air balloon ride on Christmas Eve morning in the early 2000's. I still have to look up the date to add it to the layout. This was something my mom said she wanted to do so we made it happen and I'm so glad we did because she was only with us a few more years before she passed.

Layouts from Crop

 I mentioned in my last post that the layout was a challenge from a Victoria Marie crop but I had not posted any of the others. I did all of the challenges but one due to I ran out of time. I thought that was pretty good considering I usually don't have a lot of time to scrapbook. The theme of the crop was to use old kits and collections and I have a lot of those. Some of the kits I used were from 2005! Some of them weren't my style now days but I made them work. 

I completed 6 single page layouts and 4 double page layouts for the crop. It was the first Victoria Marie crop I have attended and it was a lot of fun. She just had another one this past weekend but I knew I had other plans so I couldn't attend it...maybe next time. I've also taken several of her classes and really enjoyed them. Layout #13 - Sunshine & Happiness for Calvinball and Victoria Marie Crop

 I did the last layout for one of Victoria Marie's Crops and of course included it in Calvinball. This was the first Victoria Marie crop I've attended and it was a lot of fun. She also has classes which I have taken several. The crop challenge was to scraplift a favorite scrapbook designer or design team member and try to use the same collection or kit that they had used for that project. I had all of the Bloom Street collection by Paige Evans and she had done a layout on her YouTube channel using the banding strips from the pages in that collection. I had fun doing this layout and I even sewed the strips like she did. I choose a different background paper and when it was all done I didn't like it. I loved the hearts but the background was kind of dull so I matted it on another paper and added some more flowers to the left side of the hearts and that helped a lot.  I added white splatters to it after I took the pictures but didn't retake the pictures.

Layout #13 - Roasting Marshmallows done for Calvinball

Got another quick layout done for Calvinball this evening. This one was really fun and it was another layout from the Thanksgiving last year. Calvinball is getting real fun with the list getting larger. Click on the link to learn more about Calvinball.

It is always fun to roast marshmallows with a group of people, outside, around a fire...especially when you are with family. And it is especially fun to watch a little one try a roasted marshmallow for the first time and see the look on their little faces. I had to document that time for the memory books.

General Stores - Layout #12 for Calvinball

 

Here is the 12th layout I finished for Calvinball so far. Click on the links to learn more about Calvinball.  I can't believe I've finished twelve layouts but if I can't two-page spreads as two, I've actually finished even more. I continue using my stash and using up the old stuff. Combining it with other items, many of which are newer, makes it a bit easier. It is really amazing how many points you can rack up for Calvinball the further in the month it goes because the list continually grows. 

Calvinball is an annual event and is held every March and it is FREE! It is just for fun and it really gets you going on getting your projects done. I hope you check it out and join us in the fun.

Thanksgiving - Layout #11

 

Here is the 11th layout I finished for Calvinball. I did a two-page spread about Thanksgiving day while our family was in the mountains. We had so much fun and it was nice to have all my siblings and some of children there which was the first time in many years we were all together. 

Calvinball is so much fun and I've been combining it with other challenges which is forcing me out of my comfort zone and also making me use up some old stash which feels good. And when I say old stash, I really mean its old. Everyday the new items are added to the list and the more items you use on your project the more points you earn. Gone to the Birds - Layout # 10 for Calvinball and #7 for 30 Days of Sketches with Christy's Beautiful Life

Here is layout #10 for Calvinball and # 07 for 30 Days of Sketches with Christy's Beautiful Life.  The sketch is by Pagemaps. Click on the links to learn more about Calvinball or 30 Days of Sketches. 

I followed the sketch pretty and then added as many Calvinball points as I could. I got 41.5 for this layout. The layout is about some of the pretty birds I seen recently when I went to the zoo with a friend of mine. We had a blast and it was so nice to get away for the day.

Layout #09 - My House for Calvinball

This layout was done strictly for Calvinball. I used a cut file by Paige Evans and backed with some patterned papers and some pictures of my fur babies and one with me which is what my house is like. I got 46.5 points for this page. I can just see the faces on my kids and other family later on thinking why does she have an avocado on there? For Calvinball points that's why...LMAO!!!

Birthday Girl - Layout #08 for Calvinball and layout #6 for 30 Days of Sketches with Christy's Beautiful Life

Here is the 8th layout I finished for Calvinball and the 6th layout for 30 Days of Sketches with Christy's Beautiful Life. The sketch is by Lottie Loves Paper. Click on the links to learn more about Calvinball or 30 Days of Sketches. The challenge was to use 6 pictures instead of the 5 that is shown in the sketch. Combining that with my Calvinball rules, I left off the sketchy circle elements shown on the sketch because I really didn't have the room for it. 

Not counting my team building points for that day, I got 36.5 points for this layout which included a bonus point for attending the virtual crop and a bonus point of finishing a layout during the crop. Of course it was the only layout I completed during the crop...LOL. But a point is a point, right?!?!

Thankful - Layout 7 for Calvinball and #5 for 30 Days of Sketches with Christy's Beautiful Life

Well it's been a busy weekend and I only got one layout done for Calvinball and 30 Days of Sketches with Christy's Beautiful Life. But one is better than none...right? This is layout #7 for Calvinball and layout # 5 for 30 Days of Sketches. The sketch is by Spoonful of Scraps. I used older stash again as I am determined to make a dent in it. I combined several kits into one and used whatever seemed to work but I also, as usual, brought in some other elements like wood veneer and those charming little flair from Scrappin Happy Studio.  I love love love her flair!

Love You Always - Layout #06 for Calvinball 2022 and layout #4 for 30 Days of Sketches with Christy's Beautiful Life

Managed to get another layout done today for Calvinball and 30 Days of Sketches with Christy's Beautiful Life. To learn more about Calvinball or 30 Days of Sketches, just click the links above. The sketch is by Brenda Ragsdale. This is layout #6 for Calvinball and Layout #4 for 30 Days of Sketches. 

This layout came together quite quickly using scraps from a crop I did last weekend using up old page kits and collections with Victoria Marie. This kit was from 2002!!! I added a lot of stuff from my stash to the kit including flair from Scrappin Happy Studio. Papers that are that old are a challenge for multiple reasons. One they may not be your style any more. Two, they are pretty thin papers making it harder to work with today's products such as mixed media. And three, many times the papers were not a true 12 x 12 size which was the case for many of these papers. In that case, cutting them up helps to use them. I grabbed cardstock from my stash for a background.

Using the sketch helped to make the page come together pretty quick and of course I had to had products per the Calvinball point tracker. I did pretty good too. I think I got 18.5 points for this layout.

Hammy Love - Layout #05 for Calvinball 2022

Yes, I've got 5 layouts done so far in the first 3 days of Calvinball 2022. Can you believe it? Very unlike me to get that much done that fast. Well, fast for me that is. Some people scrap really fast but not me, I'm a slow scrapper. I work full-time which also leaves me a lot less time to work on layouts. But this one was a really quick layout that I managed to squeeze in before going to bed. Hope you enjoy it.

Candy, Please - Layout #04 for Calvinball 2022

 Here is the fourth layout I finished for Calvinball 2022. I again kept with using the really old papers in my stash. They are so old that I have no idea who they are from but I would guess the papers are from the late 90's to early 2000's sometime. I did use some newer products also such as some of the stickers. Just like in the Halloween layout, you will find a hedgehog and an avocado tucked in the layers so that I get the points for Calvinball.

I haven't scrapbooked Halloween in many years and most of my stash is much older so I did this layout using the sketch from 30 Days of Sketches with Christy's Beautiful Life and used a lot of products for Calvinball. That is why when you look close at the layout you will find an avocado and a hedgehog because I got points for using them but they really don't fit the theme of Halloween but hey anything is possible...LOL!
