Wait! Do Ducks Fly? #163

I finished up another layout and this one had me laughing so hard it was hard to get it finished. So over at CSI one of the journaling prompts for this case challenge was to "Be More Funny" which redirected you to this list of funny things to journal about. On this list was 'Bird Poop' and I knew immediately what I wanted to do for this layout. Here is the case file:
For the scheme: I used all the required colors which were medium green, turquoise blue, banana yellow, porcelain white, and fallow brown.

From the evidence list I used: Frogs or other animals (bird veneers for the ducks of the story, washi tape, checkered pattern (on the washi), watercolor (splatters), jar (puffy sticker), and hearts.

Testimony: Be More Funny prompt: Bird Poop.

The papers I used were Amy Tangerine Rise & Shine and a couple of exclusive from Scraptastic. The stickers I used were Dear Lizzy Puffy Stickers (jar w/ flowers) and Webster's Pages #Happy. The letter stickers were We R Memory Keepers Alpha Block Stickers love notes and Teresa Collins. The birds, feathers, and arrow wood veneers were all Studio Calico and the floral type wood veneer in the corner was from Scraptastic. The flair and blue turquoise heart was also from Scraptastic while the cork heart from the the dollar bins at Michaels. The enamel dots and string was from my stash. The watercolor splatters were Niji Pearlescent Watercolors.

The journaling reads:

You know when you say or do something that you wish never happened and no one ever forgets about it? Well, that happened to Janna. At my office we have the large light poles in our parking lot. And these ducks from the ponds surrounding the building have been getting on top of the lights and then they poop all over the cars. I was telling her that if she came to the office to not park under the lights for any length of time or else she would have to deal with the bird poop. Then one Sunday we stopped by the office so I could get my sweater that I forgot because we were going to the movies and I always get cold. So as we were driving into the parking lot I was pointing out the ducks on top of the lights and out of no where she says "Wait! Do ducks fly?" OMG...I lost it. If ever there was a blonde moment from this highly intelligent girl this was it. I was laughing so hard I was crying. In between the tears I said "no, they climb up the poles with their web feet and wings like a monkey!" To this day, every time I think about it or tell someone about it I start laughing so hard I cry all over again! This is one of those moments that will never die! LMAO!!!

Feeling Love

Hi guys! Here to share another layout. The colors that I had to use for this challenge were periwinkle purple, bright pink, white, pale periwinkle purple and olive green. I really enjoyed doing this layout. The colors reminded me of the licorice pieces in one of the pictures which by the way I love! These pictures were from Mother's Day this year. My children were so thoughtful. I got a vintage camera (which I collect), vintage camera bulbs, some owl earrings and owl votive cups (love owls) and of course the licorice.

For the layout I used some watercolor paper and used water color pencils on some cellophane packaging and blotted on the paper. I seen this in some YT videos and it looked like a lot of fun.  Really liked how it came out.

The paper borders and banners were cut from papers from my stash and are quite old but still very pretty. The branches and leaves were cut from a Tim Holtz Sizzix die. The acrylic hearts, words, chipboard banner, and "love this" stamp and are Heidi Swapp. The crochet flowers and ribbon on the paper border were from the dollar bin at Michaels, and brads in the middle of the flowers are The Paper Studio, and the flair is from a scraptastic kit so I don't know the manufacturer. The wood owl came from the wood section at Hobby Lobby and I used the Wink of Stella pen on it to give it a little shimmer. And the the butterflies are 3D and I actually got them at a teacher-homeschool supply store.

The journaling reads:

There is no greater feeling than love and right now my heart is filled with love. The love that I feel for my children and feeling loved from them. When you receive a gift it means so much more when you know it came from the heart. It doesn’t have to cost a lot, be really extravagant or large. Just knowing that they chose that gift especially for you straight from the heart. My kids gave me such precious gifts this Mother’s Day. Chosen with love to make me feel loved. I am truly blessed! Hope you enjoyed it and happy scrapping!

11 Awesome Years and Counting - CSI #164

Well it has been a while since I have posted a layout. I did another challenge over at Color, Stories, Inspiration (CSI) which are always so much fun. Love how you are challenged to think outside your comfort zone. So for this layout I used my Scraptastic Kit with just a extras from my stash. For this case you had to use the following colors: sky blue; candy apple red; pale, pale blue; lime green; and daffodil yellow. Here is the crime scene:
I chose to write about how I get around with the journaling style of how-to/directions format. For the evidence I used cogs/gears and wet medium. I know it seems weird to scrap a story about your car but we document the everyday. The everyday is what makes up our lives and our great, great grandchildren will never know about us if we don't document it. Here are the photos:

The following was from my Scraptastic Kit: Paper: Scraptastic - Circles (Used both A & B sides), Simple Stories - Life Documented - Stitched in Time; and Scraptastic Journaling Cards Cut-Apart. Sn@ap! enamel dots; Sn@ap! Life Documented - Icon Stickers and Bits & Pieces; AC Thickers - Marquee; Webster's Pages - Allison Kreft 'Happy" little letter stickers, wood veneer, flair, and acrylic arrow. Items used that were not from my scraptastic kit: white gesso, Tim Holtz cogs & gears, Teresa Collins enamel dots, and Heidi Swapp Color Shine - black velvet.

Of course I made a big booboo on this layout. Sometimes when you use a wet medium like gesso on regular scrapbook paper it will buckle. So I decided to back it with some cardstock to flatten it and make it sturdier. Well when I did that, I had not waited long enough and the color shine ink splatters weren't quite dry and some of it smeared. So I covered it with more gesso and little thicker so it would cover most of it and then sprinkled the ink again. Well we can chalk that up to lesson learned...don't get into such a hurry! LOL  Hope you enjoyed it and happy scrapping!

Dollar Tree Haul

A lady on the FB group Pocket Letter Pals posted these adorable playing cards she had bought at the Dollar Tree where she lives. So of course I had to check mine out and I have two in our little city but they didn't have any except for the Vegas ones. I guess I will just have to keep checking back. But it was not for nothing because I did find some other goodies to use in my scrapping and pocket letters. Check it out:

Happy Outerspace Birthday - CSI 162

Hello everyone! I'm back with another layout to share that I did for a case over at Color, Stories, Inspiration. For this case we were required to use the colors: aqua, black, bright red, buttery yellow, and pale blue. Here is the case scene:
I used all the required colors. From the evidence list I used: Space elements (lots), metal, circles, stars (obviously lots), something transparent (vellum rocket), labels, and die cuts (again lots of them). For the testimony I used the inspiration word Space.

The picture is from far away but it was to show just how big around the rocket is that is behind us. It's so big that we couldn't get the whole thing in the picture. So I used a square piece of scrap metal to frame us in the picture and you wouldn't believe this but I found the metal piece along with some others from many years ago and I found a use for it right away (love it when I can recycle something in a fun way). The pieces were from these little light weight metal words and phrases used for scrapbooking that you punched out which left these little scraps. And I remember I thought it was a shame to throw them away so I held on to them. Well over time they ended up in a box which I happen to look in just the other day and ta da...I used it! Awesome Sauce!

The layout is a bit busy I think but I was trying to achieve the feeling of outer space. The blue paper with the stars creates an illusion of space and then when you look at the rocket ships one is vellum which gives the illusion it is deeper in space than the chipboard one. Then the planet is small also giving it the appearance of being deeper in space. Then of course we have to add layering and embellishments around the photo.

The journaling reads:
All Robert could talk about for a long time was anything and everything space related. He loved Legos and he mostly built rocket ships with them for a quite a while. So we decided for his birthday that year we would surprise him with taking him to Kennedy Space Center. We all had a blast but Robert could hardly contain himself. I think that was the best birthday present he could have received.

The star background paper is DCWV Juniper Stars on Cream, and the piece of paper behind the photo is Dear Lizzy Lucky Charm. The letter stickers are Thickers Rockabye and October Afternoon Mini Market Stickers Red & Cream. Most of the embellishments were by Crate Paper Boys Rule collection along with some enamel dots from Teresa Collins and some from a pack from the dollar bins at Michaels. I also used some Tim Holtz idea-ology Vial Labels and the acrylic pieces were from one of my Scraptastic kits. I wasn't sure how I was going to use those acrylic pieces when I first got them and at the time I thought they sort of looked like meteors from the kids cartoons. So when this case challenge came up and about space I knew what I wanted to use.

HAPPY SCRAPPING!
