Wow...another one finished that combined three (3) challenges; Calvinball 2023, Victoria Marie Designs crop challenge, and 30 Days of Sketches with Christy's Beautiful Life series 11. The sketch was by  Ashley Thescrappingnerd.

The Calvinball points were a one-page layout, star, die cut, cleaned my desk (I have to in order to do the next layout, I make too big of a mess...LOL), heart, gold, fussy cutting, polka dots, doily, butterfly, arrow, 3 or more patterned papers, inking, enamel dots, metal embellishment, sketch, floral pattern paper, camera, pink, wood veneer, multi-challenge project, pop dots/dimension/foam tape, team building points, and publicity points for a total of 36.

{Ouch!} - Calvinball 2023, Victoria Marie Designs Crop, and 30 Days of Sketches with Christy's Beautiful Life

Combined three (3) challenges for this one; Calvinball 2023, Victoria Marie Designs crop challenge, and 30 Days of Sketches with Christy's Beautiful Life series 11. The sketch was by  Brandi Jo. turned the sketch because my pictures were a different orientation and a bit larger. Instead of two chevron pieces, I used one piece of rick rack. This was another one of the old stash kits I had made and I think it went pretty good with the photos. The one thing I was not happy with was that when I was putting the splatters on the page, my fan brush hit the bottom right corner of the page leaving a big black mark. Now I have to figure out what to do with it. So if you have a problem or mistake on your page, just know you are not alone and it happens to all of us. I've watched some professional designers make mistakes and they say the same thing. 

For Calvinball, I got points for a one-page layout, star, die-cut, stamp, date, frame, cleaning desk, washi tape, gold, handwriting, fussy cutting, polka dots, circle, doily, arrow, label, 3 or more photos, ribbon, enamel dots, green, metal embellishment, put away 5 layouts (225 layouts for 45 points), used a sketch, camera, pink, glasses, wood veneer, multi-challenge project, team building points, and publicity points for a total of 102. Whew! 

This is the stack of layouts I was putting away for all those points!

Goodbye Geoffrey - Calvinball 2023 and 30 Days of Sketches with Christy's Beautiful Life

Sorry for all the posts but I'm trying to catch up sharing what I have accomplished. When you work a lot, plus all of your other obligations, you tend to run out of time to get everything done. This layout I did for Calvinball and 30 Days of Sketches with Christy's Beautiful Life series 11. The sketch was by Nicole Santos. 

With all the items that have been added to the Calvinball list so far, I thought about children because of things like dinosaurs and Disney, which then made me think about when Toys-R-Us closed in the US. Very sad time for many. 

For Calvinball, I got points for a layout, star, die-cut striped paper (I cut the striped paper into strips to match the sketch), stamped, using a date, cleaning my desk, a heart, washi tape, gold, handwriting, fussy cutting, polka dots, title with two or more fonts, circle, doily, cloud, butterfly, green, avocado, used a punch, film strip, vellum, metal embellishment, silver, leftover scraps, stitching, sketch/template, Disney, dinosaur, team building points, and publicity points for a total of 44 points.

Layouts completed for Victoria Marie Crop

Here are the layouts I completed for the Victoria Marie Designs crop but were not also part of Calvinball or 30 Days of Sketches with Christy's Beautiful Life. Those are posted separately to provide proper credit.

These monthly crops are virtual and each month has a theme so the challenges are within the theme. This month was all about color. Her crops are a lot of fun and a great way to use up your stash and use your tools. I mean that's why we do this hobby but we tend to shop faster than we actually create. Having the challenges help you to use what you have and get stuff done!

Go Gators! - Calvinball 2023 and Victoria Marie Designs Crop Challenge

 I completed a two-page layout for Calvinball 2023 and for the Victoria Marie Designs crop challenge. I've had a very large kit put together for a long time to scrap these, as well as some others, pictures of when we went to some of the University of Florida football games. This was so exciting for me because I haven't been to a game in over 25 years. I used to work there and my son was born there but once we moved further south, I never had the opportunity to go to any more games. This was a great time and I had so much fun. 

For the Calvinball, I got points for a two-page layout, star, die cut, using a stamp, adding a date, cleaning desk between projects, heart, washi tape, handwriting, polka dots, circle, green, team building points, and publicity points.

Memories - Calvinball 2023 and Victoria Marie Designs Crop Challenge

 Another layout was completed for Calvinball and Victoria Marie Designs crop challenge. This layout used a theme of retro colors. I've had these papers since around 2005! They came in a kit subscription and I wasn't sure how I was going to use them but I finally used some of them! I used a sketch from Sketch Savvy. 

I got points for a one-page layout, star, die cut, striped paper, cleaning desk between projects, heart, gold, handwriting, fussy cutting, circle, green, avocado, using a punch, chipboard, feather, using a sketch/template, team building points, and publicity points.

K-9 Demo: Calvinball 2023 and Victoria Marie Designs' Monthly Crop

Here is the second layout I finished for Calvinball and Victoria Marie Designs' monthly crop. Click on the links to learn more about Calvinball or Victoria Marie's Facebook group. Both are a lot of fun and push you out of your comfort zone and help you use up your stuff. 

For this layout, I used more old stash...YAY! Love it when I use the old stuff and get it out of my stash and on pages. This is a layout of my son giving a K-9 Demo at my office when we held an open house. People really enjoyed the demo. My son's dog at the time was Piko. For Calvinball, I got points for a one-page layout, stars, die cut, using a stamp, adding a date, cleaning my desk between projects, heart, washi tape, gold, green, avocado, chipboard, feather, leftover scraps, team building points, and publicity points for a total of 27 points.

Day 1 of 30 Days of Sketches with Christy's Beautiful Life and Calvinball

Day 1 is done and in the books as they say. I did a quick layout using the day 1 sketch, by Jessie Brodmerkle, from 30 Days of Sketches with Christy's Beautiful Life and the Calvinball items. I didn't add my photo to the layout yet as I cannot print right now so I will have to add it later on. I'm continuing to use up my old stash which feels good. I had made a bunch of page kits with my old stash some time ago so as I go through this month I look through those first to see if one of them will work for that day's sketch and the Calvinball items. Today it worked out great.

I don't always remember what line or manufacturer is of all the items since they are not all from the same collection or anything. I followed the sketch pretty close. Instead of the florals, I used a bunch of die cuts and fussy-cut items that I had placed in my page kit. I did have some die-cut leaves and a flower that I cut out of white cardstock with my Sizzix that I had sitting on my desk to use. I added some gold splatters around the layout as well as a few gold star sequins. And if you look really hard you will find a tiny avocado that was one of the Calvinball items. At the beginning of Calvinball, there are only a few items on the list. You get points for what you use on your project. There are permanent items and then there are temporary items. The list changes every day which is what makes it so fun. On the list today were stars, avocados, die cuts, and the color green.

Calvinball and 30 Days of Sketches with Christy's Beautiful Life

 Hey, hey, hey everyone! I hope everyone's year is going good so far. I'm trying to get back into the groove of things and get busy again. I am participating in Calvinball 2023 again this year over at Scrap Happy or at least as much as I can. That's the great thing is you can do as much or as little as you want. It is a total blast. 

I am also pairing it up with Series 11 of 30 Days of Sketches with Christy's Beautiful Life over on Facebook. This gives me a starting off point for a layout while pairing it with the challenges for Calvinball.

It is such a great time and you get so much inspiration. Later in the month, I will also pair it up with Victoria Marie Designs' virtual crop that she hosts once a month. Now that will be wild fun!
